Pazo do Souto, galician rural tourism in it's essence

Pazo do Souto is one of the first rural tourism houses that opened in Galicia and has a well deserved fame of beeing one of the best establishments of it's kind.  The hotel is situated in the province of La Coruña, in a small village nearby Carballo in the Coast of death. It's situation permits knowing the region in all senses. 8km to the nearest beach (Razo, blue flag), 33 km. to La Coruña, or 44km. to Santiago de Compostela make it an unbeatable starting point to attractive excursions to the main cities of la Coruña or to the breathaking Costa de la Muerte.

The special double rooms are very spacious and confortable. They have of course TV, telephone, yacuzzi bathrooms, central heating and even internet conection for free.

 At the bar, where also a very varied and generous breakfast is served, the visitors can alternate with other clients in a familiar atmosphere, have interesting conversations with the owner (they speak english, german, italian and french) and of course taste the tipical liquors, drinks or wines of the region. Periodally, the famous "Queimada" (typical burned drink made of galician Grappa with magical performance to chase bad spirits, witches and demons) is prepared for all the guests.

Besides of beeing a beatiful corner of the house, ideal to relax, read or have small talk with some friends, the originality of the perfectly conserved little oratory is one of the highlights of galicia manor-house archtecture.

Many couples ask for romantic nights. Pazo do Souto offers them a special price which includes a wellcoming fruit and champagne snack, flower-present for her and a romantic dinner with candle-light. Room service is available from 8 a.m. till 24 p.m and any wish you have will be realized with inmediately.

The whole surrounding is a beatiful ground to enjoy. The hotel has a private chestnut forest where in summertime, fiesta-dinners are served, it has also a leisure-park for children, ping-pong tables, swimming-pool, tenis-court and bycicles can be rented at place.

The swimming-pool is opened from april till october. There is also a small pool for children

This is a relaxing living-room that is totally private for the guests. A huge fireplace and other typical galician elements in manor-houses are very interesting. 

The restaurant is one of the most appreciated places by the guests. The menus served in Pazo do Souto are exceptionnal and every single client is very surprised by the excellent cooking that is offered. Also the price for the dishes are very affordable.

Our Presentation

Hi,

herewith we want to introduce ourselves, telling you that we are very emotioned about this new project, of creating a blog to include the touristic attractions of Galicia, north-east coast of Spain, also called the green corner.

We are Carlos and Mark. Me myself, grew up in Switzerland, allthough I have galician parents and I have been always very much in touch with this region, and since almost 20 years, my family owns a small rural tourism hotel that I will soon present you in this blog. I also have a small company specialized in vacational lodgings allover Galicia that I will get to know in further messages in order to offer the best lodgings of this kind in Galicia. I will be pleased to help any foreigner in whatever questions they might have about a trip to Galicia.

Mark will probably get to know himself in further articles, but as an advance, he is a scotish gentlemen who got in love with Galicia several years ago and decided to move to our region in order to have a less stressful life and help other foreigners to know the wellcoming atmosphere and the very nice aspects that Galicia has to offer to anyone who visits us. Galicia has been in the least years a little bit the forgotten corner of Spain, unless the wellknown places as Santiago de Compostela, with it's pilgrims way of St. Jakob or Finisterre, as the end of the world as roman culture named it.

Nevertheless, Galicia is nowadays, mostly in national knowledgment, sinonomous to culture, richness of gastronomic pleasures and unforgettable landscapes and natural resources that can be enjoyed in an easy, priceworthy and conforting way by our visitants.

Islas Cies

The Cies Islands are one of the very top places to visit in Galicia. The islands are of international conservation importance and have National Park status. They are one of the most important wildlife sites in Spain and one of the wonders of the world. The Guardian voted its most popular beach,Playa de Rodas,the best beach in the world in 2007 while the Portuguese call them the Galician Seychelles.
